Geek that I am, I love my techtoys.
I have an Axim x5, and I love it. It still works, with a slight hiccup. I turn it on and the light never comes back up, I have to go to the settings and alter the brightness every time. This is challenging when the setting comes up so dark, it is difficult to see where to touch to get to the brightness screen. Relatively minor issue, but it also doesn't have wi-fi or bluetooth. It is also getting challenging to find replacement batteries at a reasonable price. Good thing I bought a couple the last time I found some. :-) The Axim has been discontinued. As a matter of fact, Dell doesn't make PDA's anymore. They just sell those made by others.
Sadly, I feel that I am one of the last people on Earth who wants a PDA. People get those smart phones and that appears to be the wave of the future. I don't want a smart phone. I want to be able to use my pda WHILE I am on the phone. I want to be able to pass the pda to my daughter to play with while I am talking on the phone. I want to use my pda in places where my phone doesn't work, without worrying about the stupid battery running down while it tries to connect to a tower.
I am thinking that I need to get a new PDA while it is still possible. There are not many options out there, especially if you want Windows Mobile (which I do). I figure that, with any luck, this next pda will last a good 5 years, too. Maybe, by then, the general public will come back around ... or maybe I'll finally be willing to give up the pda. I am thinking of the HP iPAQ 211. I am still researching, but that one looks to be the best so far.
